The Hunger Games Nail Art - Katniss Everdeen

This look is inspired by Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. I came up with this look after reading the first book, and this is what I imagined her interview dress to be like. In the light it looks like flickering flames, the picture really doesn't do it justice!

I started by applying my base coat and then two coats of Nubar Fire Sparkle. Next, I added two coats of Maybelline Colorama Flames of Amber. Then I added one coat of Maybelline Flash Cosmic.

Once my nails were dry, I Googled images of flames, and tried to recreate similar shapes on my nails with Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle in Pattie. I tried to make each nail a bit different so it would look more interesting. Finally I used Seche Vite as my top coat.

Hope you enjoyed!

Simple Roses Nail Art

First I applied my base coat and my base colour, Ciate Beach Melba, which I got in the July GlossyBox. It was a bit sheer so I used around 4 coats of this.

Next, I used OPI Flower-To-Flower to make different sized dots on my nails.

Then I used Barry M Mint Green for the leaves. I just used the nail polish brush to do all this, the trick is to make sure you've got almost nothing on the brush, you can always go back and add a bit more if there's not enough colour, but you don't want it accidentally running down the brush and ruining the design.

Next I used Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle in Katleen to add detail to the roses. I just randomly swiped the polish along the pink bits, nothing precise about it at all, then went back in with Flower-To-Flower to tidy up and sort out any bits that might have had too much white.

Finally I used Seche Vite as my top coat.

Hallows Versus Horcruxes: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Nail Art

For this nail art look I decided to focus my right hand nails around Hallows and my left hand nails around Horcruxes.

The right (Hallows) hand:

I first applied my base coat and base colour, Twilight Black Tie to all my nails.
For my pinkie I drew the Deathly Hallows sign with Stargazer 232 polish.
For my ring finger nail represents the Invisibility Cloak, so I used a mixture of Collection 2000 Sparkle Top Coat, elf Twinkle and NYX Grafitti.
My middle finger nail represents the Elder Wand, I used Revlon Nude Chic for the wand and added the sparkly polishes I used on the previous nail, to the background.
My index finger represents the Ressurection Stone. I used Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Trio in Smile in a Storm to create a diamond shape. Next, I filled two opposite triangles of the diamond with Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Stripe & Sparkle in Pattie. Finally I used Stripe & Sparkle in Katleen to draw the Deathly Hallows sign.
For my thumb, I used Stargazer 237 and used an image on Google to copy the HP.

The left (Horcruxes) hand:

My thumbnail is Nagini in her glass sphere. I used the Smile in a Storm trio to draw a circle, then went around it with Katleen. I used H&M Nail Polish in Envy Me and Sleek Pioson Ivy to colour the snake. I went round it with Katleen just so it didn't look as much of a green blob, haha. I used Stargazer 232 to draw the eyes.
My index finger is Slytherin's locket. I used GOSH Gold for the locket and then H&M Envy me with w7 Green Dazzle for the letter S. I added some more Green Dazzle around the edge of the locket.
My middle finger nail is Ravenclaw's Diadem. I used Rimmel Your Majesty to draw the outline of the tiara. I added w7 Blue Dazzle in the middle and also some w7 Blue Diamonds on top. I also added Blue Diamonds just underneath. Finally I used Stripe & Sparkle Brooke to stripe along the middle of the remaining silver parts.
My ring finger nail is Hufflepuff's Cup. I used Stargazer 237 to draw the cup and w7 Gold Dazzle to add detail. I used Stripe & Sparkle Pattie to add the H in the middle of the cup.
For my pinkie finger nail I used Nails Inc Carnaby Street to draw the lightening bolt.

Well done if you've actually read this far, and even more so if you can understand what I'm talking about! I'm so excited for the film, I can't wait! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I will!

Neon Rainbow Nail Art

To begin I applied my base coat and a coat of Sally Hansen White On to allow the neon polishes to show up better.

Next I painted diagonal stripes across my nail with Color Club polishes Volt of Light, What a Shock!, Pure Energy, Ultra Violet, Electro Candy and Tangerine Scream.

After the polish was completely dry I stamped the tiger print image from Konad plate m57 using BarryM Black. My nails were longer than the image so I just filled the rest of my nail in using Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle in Pattie. Finally I used Seche Vite as my top coat.

Tropical Tiger Nail Art

First I applied my base coat and then Revlon Mad About Mango on the upper 2 thirds of my nail. Next I applied Nails Inc Carnaby Street to the remaining lower third of my nail. I then applied Models Own Pink Lady to the top third of my nail, over the top of Mad About Mango.

Next, I stippled each nail polish lightly over where the colours met to blend the colours into each other. I went over everything with two coats of Nyx Grafitti. Finally I made random tiger stripes across my nails using Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle Pattie, then applied Seche Vite as my top coat.

Pink With Silver Bows Nail Art

After applying my base coat, I applied a coat of OPI Aphrodite's Pink Nightie, then I added two coats of OPI Katy Perry Teenage Dream. This is my favourite polish combination at the moment.

For the bows, I used Eyeko Cosmic Polish with my dotting tool to make two heart shapes with the pointed tips touching each other, then added a dot in the middle where the tips met.

Next, I added OPI DS Coronation in the middle of the bows with a small nail art brush, leaving an outline of the Cosmic Polish around the edges.

Finally I added a clear rhinestone in the middle of each bow and sealed with Seche Vite top coat.

Black & Red Corset Nail Art

To begin I applied my base coat and then Barry M Black to the tips of my nail. I filled the lower half of my nail in with Collection 2000 Big Hair. I painted a line along the middle of my nail with Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Stripe & Sparkle in Pattie.

I went over the red polish with Nubar Fire Sparkles and added dots of Barry M Black to make the holes in the corset.

At this point I changed my mind with what I wanted to do with my index, middle and pinkie nails. I originally planned to add bows at the top of each nail but after painting the bow on my thumb nail I thought it might look a bit too much. I decided I just wanted to have the corset pattern all the way up those nails, with bows only on my thumb and ring finger nail.

I would have just extended the red polish up over the black at the tips of my nails, but the red polish wasn't opaque enough to completely cover the black. I removed all the polish from the 3 nails and started again. I applied Big Hair all over the nails and went over it with Fire Sparkles. I added the lines through the middle with Pattie and used Barry M Black to add the dots.

For the ribbon I used Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Stripe & Sparkle in Katleen. I used a very light hand while doing the criss-cross part of the ribbon, joining each dot in a diagonal. For the bow I used a slightly heavier hand because I wanted it to stand out slightly from the criss-cross part of the ribbon. Finally I added a red rhinestone in the middle of each bow and sealed everything with a coat of Seche Vite.
